General Rules in Baccarat Tournaments

When a casino player plans to join a Baccarat tournament for the first time, he should be aware of the usual rules that are followed so that he can plan his strategy. His aim is to get into the final round and win.

What's a Baccarat tournament like? There are differences between
playing a Baccarat tournament and playing Baccarat online. That is, in a
Baccarat tournament, a competitor may end up losing chips but can still be declared a winner. The sole reason for this is that he still have more
chips than the other competitors. This means that the others simply lost
more than he did.

Despite this seemingly major difference, the basic Baccarat rules are
still the same. And added to such rules are tournament rules which are
not too hard to follow even when a Baccarat player is joining the
tournament for the first time. Tournament rules may have several
variations, but the basic structure is similar to the one described here.

- The casino (online casinos or land-based) will set the minimum bets and maximum bets. Minimum bets can be $100 and the maximum bets can be $3000. Along with the establishment of the minimum and maximum bets, there will also be a specific amount set for increments. The increments may be $50 or $100. When such is established, no Baccarat player is supposed to bet with $225.

- The Baccarat tournament must have three different rounds. The first
round is usually called the "qualifying round". In most tournaments,
there will be two or more qualifying rounds, depending on the number of
participants. More participants meant more qualifying rounds. The
winners (people who got the highest points) in the qualifying rounds will
then enter the next round called the "semi-final round". Then, the
winners of the semi-final round will proceed to the "final round".

- There will also be a specific number of hands for each game.
Usually, a game will have twenty-eight hands. The Baccarat competitors are
required to place a bet on each hand. If there are 28 hands, a
participant in the Baccarat tournament must place bets at least 28 times.

- The decision to choose the player who will bet first must be decided
randomly. This can be done by drawing lots. Once the first player is
chosen, the players to his left will follow. The usual order of
betting is counter-clockwise or from right to left. In the next round of
betting, the player who placed the second bet in the previous round will
be the first player to bet in the current round. In this way, every
player will have the chance to bet first.

- After a player has placed his bet, he no longer has the chance to
change his bet. Such is not allowed. This is why some Baccarat players view the position of betting first as disadvantageous, since many players will decide who to bet on (Player or Bank) based on the bets of the others.

- The players are usually not allowed to pool together their bankroll
and place a "team bet". The reason is pretty obvious. The players are
supposed to play against each other.

- Once the bankroll of a player is already zero, he is no longer
allowed to play.
